Global Innovation Index 2021: Bosnia and Herzegovina in 75th place

 

Mostar, October 15, 2021 - World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has published the "Global Innovation Index (GII) 2021", the latest global innovation scale in 132 countries.

According to about 80 indicators, the GII 2021 shows that, as in previous years, the leading countries are Switzerland (1st) and Sweden (2nd), and among the top five are again the United States, the United Kingdom and the Republic of Korea.

In terms of the total value of the global innovation index, Bosnia and Herzegovina ranks 75th this year.

Bosnia and Herzegovina has a better performance in terms of innovation inputs than the outputs in the field of innovation. This year, Bosnia and Herzegovina ranks 70th in terms of innovation inputs, higher than in 2020 and 2019. In terms of outputs resulting from the use of innovation, Bosnia and Herzegovina ranks 80th.

With regard to comparable countries, Bosnia and Herzegovina ranks 22nd among 34 world economies with upper middle incomes according to the global innovation index, while it ranks 38th compared to the economies of European countries.
