FAQ on Integrated Circuit Topography
WHAT IS THE SUBJECT MATTER AND CONDITIONS OF PROTECTION?
Only a topography that is original in the sense that it is the result of its creator's own intellectual effort and is not commonplace among creators of topographies and manufacturers of integrated circuits at the time of its creation shall be protected.
A topography which consists of elements and interconnections that are commonplace in the industry of topographies shall be protected only if, taken as a whole, fulfills the conditions referred to in the paragraph above.
