Seminar "Intellectual Property for Economic Entities"

 

SARAJEVO, February 28, 2019 - Education Department of the Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina realized a seminar in cooperation with the Institute for Intellectual Property of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the topic "Intellectual Property for Economic Entities", held on February 27, 2019 in the premises of the Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo.

In the introductory part of the seminar, participants were addressed by Ph.D. Elma Kovačević-Bajtal, director of the Education Department of the Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Josip Merdžo, director of the Institute for Intellectual Property of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Seminar participants had the opportunity to obtain the most current information in the area of ​​intellectual property protection in relation to patents, trademarks, industrial designs and geographical indications. It is particularly emphasized that in Bosnia and Herzegovina still more requests for intellectual property protection are filed by natural persons than by industry, while in all developed countries industry dominates in the number of claims for intellectual property protection. In addition, it is necessary to work on the protection of intellectual property in today's business environment and to continuously raise awareness of the need to protect it in order to avoid negative consequences for, primarily, the industry where we already have cases that companies from Bosnia and Herzegovina feel very serious financial consequences related to the abuse of their intellectual property that they did not protect in a timely manner, it was announced by the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH.

Seminar was attended by representatives of the private sector, ministries, local community and consultants.

Lecturers at the seminar were Srećko Rikalo, Irma Delibašić, Goran Trifković and Miroslav Marić from the Institute for Intellectual Property of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
