Seminar held for market inspectors in BiH on the enforcement of intellectual property rights

 

Mostar, February 22, 2024 - Seminar for market inspectors in Bosnia and Herzegovina on the enforcement of intellectual property rights was held from February 19 to 22 in Mostar, organized by the project "EU support for intellectual property rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina", which is financed by the European Union.

On the first day of the seminar, representatives of market inspectorates in BiH were introduced to intellectual property rights, reasons for the enforcement of these rights, types of exercise of rights and civil enforcement of intellectual property rights.

Topics of the second day of seminar were infringements of intellectual property rights in substantive law and inspection supervision, misdemeanor order and first-instance proceedings before the misdemeanor court, criminal offenses against intellectual property, investigation and collection of evidence, course of criminal proceedings, and statistics on the enforcement of intellectual property rights were presented.

On the third day of seminar, market inspectors could hear tips for identifying counterfeit goods, they were presented with procedures for inspecting goods, sampling and photographing samples, as well as with models of interagency and international cooperation.

On the last day of the seminar, cooperation with rights holders, risk analysis and procedures related to suspect goods were discussed.

On all days of the seminar, discussion and questions related to the mentioned topics were possible.

Market inspections at all levels of government in Bosnia and Herzegovina are competent, among other things, for the enforcement of intellectual property rights.
