Constituent session of the Interagency Co-operation Body for the Acquisition and Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina held

 

Mostar, December 9, 2021 - Pursuant to the Decision on the Establishment of the Interagency Co-operation Body for the Acquisition and Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina ("Official Gazette of BiH", No. 22/20 and 63/21),  constituent session of the Interagency Co-operation Body for the Acquisition and Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina (MTS) was held on December 8, 2021.

The session was organized by the Institute for Intellectual Property of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and due to the epidemiological situation related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the session was held online, using a video conferencing application.

MTS is a coordinating body composed of representatives of institutions responsible for the enforcement of intellectual property rights at all levels of government in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and representatives of the Institute for Intellectual Property of Bosnia and Herzegovina as an institution responsible for professional and administrative affairs in the field of intellectual property.

According to the Strategy for the Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina 2018-2022, this body is responsible for strengthening inter-institutional cooperation through initiating and coordinating activities in the field of acquisition and enforcement of intellectual property rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the aim of establishing and operating a comprehensive intellectual property system compatible with the system as it exists in the EU.

The constituent session of the MTS was presided by the director of the Institute Mr. Josip Merdžo. At the session, the management was elected and the Rules of Procedure were adopted, which created the preconditions for further work of this body in accordance with applicable regulations.

Zagorka Gojković (UINO) was elected chair of the MTS, Melis Fišo (SIPA) and Mario Lovrić (Border Police) were elected deputies, and Mario Babić (Institute for Intellectual Property of BiH) was elected secretary.
