Sarajevo: Workshop "How to recognize and protect a scientific discovery?" – A short course on the patent life cycle" held

Sarajevo, March 22, 2023 - Scientific workshop with international participation entitled "How to recognize and protect a scientific discovery?" – A short course on the patent life cycle" was held from March 20 to 22, 2023 in Sarajevo, organized by the University of Sarajevo (UNSA), the Institute for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (INGEB) of the University of Sarajevo and the UNSA Center for Research and Development , in cooperation with the University-Industry Collaboration Centers Platform of Turkey - ÜSİMP and the Institute for Intellectual Property of BiH.

Through a two-day panel and a one-day practical workshop, the topic was how to improve cooperation and knowledge transfer between science and business, and how to protect scientific discoveries. The participants of the workshop were researchers from the field of natural and technical sciences, and experts from technology transfer institutions.

Dragana Marić Mešić, a patent expert, participated in the workshop on behalf of the Institute for Intellectual Property of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who in the theoretical part of the workshop presented the legal framework for the protection of intellectual property in Bosnia and Herzegovina with an emphasis on the patent protection procedure, while the exceptionally well-attended practical workshop training was held on searching patent databases, drafting patent applications and on the procedure for the complete examination of applications conducted before the Institute.
