WIPO's Director General to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Institute for Intellectual Property
MOSTAR, October 17, 2016 - Director general of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Francis Gurry will pay a visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the BiH Institute for Intellectual Property next year.
Director of the Institute Josip Merdžo invited director general Gurry to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina at the meeting held in Geneva, where BiH delegation participated in 56th session of WIPO's General Assembly. Gurry accepted invitation with pleasure, so the dates for this visit will be set in his program for 2017.
Ambassador Lucija Ljubić Lepine, head of BiH Mission to the UN in Geneva, stressed the importance and necessity of continuing successful cooperation between BiH institutions and organizations operating within United Nations. Once again emphasis was placed on significance of protection and management of intellectual property, and the fact that it represents an important part in economic development of every country.
Director general Gurry was informed about joint activities carried out by WIPO's Department for Transition and Developed Countries, headed by Michal Svantner, and the Institute for Intellectual Property in the organization of sub-regional seminar dedicated to the theme of intellectual property development in the context of higher education and universitary institutions, to be held on November 23, 2016 in Mostar.
Jovan Šarac, deputy director also participated in the delegation of the Institute for Intellectual Property.
