Delegation of the Institute on a study visit to DZIV

 

Mostar, October 30, 2017 - Delegation of the Institute for Intellectual Property of Bosnia and Herzegovina was on a study visit to the State Intellectual Property Office (DZIV) of the Republic of Croatia from 25 to 27 October 2017.

In the delegation of the Institute for Intellectual Property of BiH were director of the Institute Josip Merdžo, deputy director Ljubica Kozić and the staff of the Patent Department.

On the first day of the visit, DZIV's director Ljiljana Kuterovac and the director of the Institute Josip Merdžo presented the structure and main activities of the two institutions. Visit continued with the presentation of organizational models and procedures in the DZIV's Sector for Patents and with patent database search.

On the second day of the visit, Institute's delegation was introduced to the quality system in patent grant procedures, its key aspects and results, as well as to the online system for management and control of processes.

On the third and final day of the visit, the delegation of the Institute was passed on the experiences of DZIV in cooperating with universities and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Following was the presentation of DZIV's Information Center (INCENTIV), among others, of the intellectual property potential assessment service for SMEs and participation in educational and promotional activities.

Institute's delegation assessed this study visit as exceptionally useful, especially for its efforts to make positive changes in the field of research and development activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina regarding intellectual property and in active approach to small and medium-sized enterprises through the process of pre-diagnose and identification of all potential elements that may be subject to the protection of some form of intellectual property with a view to increasing the economic potential of SMEs.
