World Intellectual Property Day celebrated

 

Mostar, April 27, 2018 - On the occasion of the World Intellectual Property Day, celebrated annually on April 26, the Institute for Intellectual Property of Bosnia and Herzegovina organized Doors Open Day.

In addition to interested citizens, media, too expressed great interest in this event and visited all three locations of the Institute in Mostar, Sarajevo and Banja Luka.

Students of the International Primary School Mostar, led by teacher Ivon Kresonja, visited head office of the Institute in Mostar. Director of the Institute Josip Merdžo expressed them a cordial welcome, and the staff of the Institute familiarized them in an entertaining manner with the concepts of patent, trademark, industrial design and copyright. At the end of the visit, senior associate for international patents at the BiH Institute for Intellectual Property Dragana Marić Mešić awarded them certificates that will remind them of this event.

This year, the theme of the World Intellectual Property Day is "Powering change: Women in innovation and creativity".

On this occasion, director general of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Francis Gurry sent a message in which he warned that available statistics show inequality in the level of participation of women in innovation and creativity.

“On the occasion of the World Intellectual Property Day, I call on everyone, everywhere, to ensure that we each do everything in our power to increase the full participation of women in innovation and creativity”, it is stated, among other things, in the message of WIPO’s Director General.
